Rickford is very
small and peaceful village close to Blagdon and near many of the
places of interest that
Somerset
has to offer.
Cheddar
Gorge & Caves
Cheddar's world famous caves are just
under 8 miles away and a wonderful walk if you are feeling
energetic. You could
climb Jacob's Ladder, meet the Cheddar man, sample the locally
made cider and cheese or even spend a morning abseiling on the
gorge itself.
Wookey Hole
Wookey Hole is about 15 miles away
from us, and the Caves and Paper Mill make an enjoyable day for
the whole family. Children
can entertain themselves in the valley of the dinosaurs or even
play with old money in the old fairground.
If you are lucky you may
even bump into the Wookey witch.
Chew Valley Lake
Chew
Valley lake is only a couple of miles away from
the pub and is set in the Mendip Hills.
The 5th biggest man-made
lake in England,
it makes for a good fishing lake as well as suitable for sailing
and bird-watching.
Blagdon Lake
Blagdon lake is one of the main fishing
lakes in Somerset and is
approximately a mile away. A
great walk if you are not carrying your fishing tackle!
Bristol Airport
Whilst we do not offer parking for Bristol airport, we are a convenient stop off
point if you are travelling a long way and would like to spend a
night before your trip, or just have a meal before heading off
on holiday or when heading home.
The airport is less than ten minutes away but we are
fortunately placed not to be able to hear it.
